how to make a hand made quilt of fabic?
You need to create a top (this will have the design/quilt squares), the middle (batting--your choice of type), and a backing. The quilting is in the joining of these three whether it be by hand, machine, or tied. Once this is completed, you need to add a binding to edge finish the quilt and you are done. The quilt can be as simple or difficult as you wish. I suggest you look through quilt blocks to choose what is attractive to you....something simple so you do not get too frustrated. You can get ideas from googling how to make a quilt or quilt blocks. You might learn how to do this from a local group. In my area there is a group who makes quilts for the local terminally ill named Comfort Quilts. Something like this is a great way to learn how to quilt from some of the best and you can make a lasting gift for another. You can take what you learn home with you to create your own quilt for yourself.
