Fabric not moving on teeth of Singer Prelude machine...?
So I'm just learning how to use a sewing machine, so I invited a friend over to teach me who was experinced in using machines.
He slowly walked me through the threading process, winding the bobbin, all that jazz.
so when we got to the actual putting-the-fabric-in part, he got really confused, because the teeth under the foot were only moving up and down, not moving in the circle that would move the fabric along. We got some stitches in, but only by pulling the fabric, not guiding it like the lady was doing in the "Instructional" DVD. And if you've got a Prelude, you know the manual is pretty much unhelpful.
he suggested taking to a repair shop, but I'd like to do that only as a last resort... Any help please???
This is happening to me right now. These machines are so simple that they do not have the option to lower the feed dogs, so that's not the problem (it comes with a darn plate to cover up the feed dogs instead). I've already made several things with it working just fine, this time I'm trying to applique something cut out of a t-shirt onto a heavier dress material, with a satin stitch, I just thought it was the t-shirt fabric. I've sent the Singer help people an e-mail. Hopefully I'll be enlightened! I'll share if they come through!
