Using a Singer 221-1?
I got a singer 221-1 (featherweight?) from my grandmother. I have the manual and that helped me get thread through all the hooks and up from the bobbin. Its still not sewing however. Does the bobbin thread need to be on the needle somehow? Does the spool thread need to do something after threading the needle?
Congratulations on owning a great sewing machine.
Always thread the machine with the presser foot up.
Hold onto the thread tail at the needle.
Turn the handwheel so the needle goes down into the bobbin and pulls up a loop.
Pull up the loop and you will have both the top thread and bobbin thread.
Take the thread tails under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.
Do this each time you thread the needle or change the bobbin.
Now you are ready to sew.
