How to Quilt : Sewing Quilt Bindings
Do you have to prewash fabric before sewing clothes as you do before quilting?
It is ALWAYS recommended to pre-wash fabric. More so for clothing than for quilting/decorative projects. The reason being if the fabric shrinks you want it to do that before you make the clothing not after. You don't want to have your clothes fit after sewing and then not fit after washing. It will also let you know if the fabric bleeds or not. If you are sewing somthing that has 2 different colors you don't want the darker color to bleed onto the lighter color.
