Cottage Collection Scarlet Quilt Set
Bought a quilt set from Overstock. After washing it and placing on my bed I noticed one of the seams had torn.?
I contacted Overstock two days after receiving the item and was told they couldn't provide an exchange or a refund as the item was used. They gave me a $20 credit in my account and told me I could keep the item. Is this legal? I washed the item according to the manufacturer's instructions and it may even have been torn prior to washing it (it has a very detailed Moroccan print which makes it quite hard to spot the torn part. It's not like I washed it and decided I didn't like the colors... it is defective. I've used Overstock a lot and bought some big ticket items from them (beds, electronics, etc). This is my first bad experience. Can they do this? It seems illegal to me.
I'm surprised they did not just give you a refund. I have always had good experiences with them. If I were you I wouldn't let it go. Call again and if you get this same kind of response ask to speak to that persons boss.If they don't resolve the issue be sure you at least write a review for the quilt set and write a negative review for Overstock.
