Janome Sew Mini Sewing Machine Part 3 - Sewing

I'm looking on the Hancock Fabrics website at some mini sewing machines. I would really like to start designing and making my own clothes because I really want to be a fashion designer when i get older.(I'm 13) Would anyone recommend the Janome Mini Sewing Machine? Here's the link for the details on it:

I think it's really cool but would it be good for sewing things like Denim or Vinyl, maybe Faux Fur? If anyone could give me a link to some reviews on it as well, that would be nice too ![]()
LOL the reason why I want a mini one is because I'm learning how to sew with a sewing machine and I don't think that I need a big one until I actually know what I'm doing
Get a standard size machine with enough oomph to get through enough layers of fabric to make something useful. This one is meant for small mending jobs on lightweight fabrics, not the sort of stuff you're planning.
Janome is a good sewing machine brand -- my pick for the best value in the lower end sewing machines -- but I'd strongly suggest a larger, heavier machine so you won't be frustrated with the limitations of this one. Your plan of starting with a small machine would be like teaching you to drive in a toddler's pedal car instead of a standard automobile.
If you really want to stick with a smaller than usual format machine, consider one of the Janome Jem series. One quick way to sort through a bunch of machines -- make buttonholes. I've never seen a bad machine make decent buttonholes.
Here's one source of reviews for sewing machines -- try to find someone who's used a sewing machine before and has had it for longer than a couple of weeks when you're reading reviews:
