Sewing machine timing prob, ne ideas???
I have a singer featherweight 2 sewing machine and the needle is hitting the plate below the bobbin case. I think the timing is out, anyone know how to fix this??
Wander over to the yahoo group "wefixit" and ask this question. IIRC, the Featherweight 2 is a newish machine, rather than the original 221 series? Anyhow, "wefixit" is for amateur machine mechanics, ably aided by several pros -- they can tell you how to check the timing properly.
Make sure first that the 1) needle is the right system and size, as specified in your manual 2) turned the right way 3) all the way up in the needle holder 4) not bent (and you may not see the bend, so do try a new needle). Also check to see that the bobbin and bobbin case are properly seated.
For some reason, lint seems to accumulate in the needle clamp of some machines, and this prevents the needle from
being seated all the way into the clamp. You may have to do some excavation to get it all out if it's this issue.
If you can't resolve it with the manual and a new needle, do check out "wefixit"
