What is the difference between a serger, coverstitch machine and an overlock machine?

The link above is a link to the coverstitch machine I'm referring to. Are they all the same? Or do they each do separate things in sewing?
Serger and overlocker are essentially synonymous in home sewing... they're the machines that can seam and finish edges. http://kwiksew.com/resources/articles/p19-Overlocker.pdf
Coverstitch machines, which is what the 009 is, are for doing the double-needle hemming you commonly see on t-shirt hems, like this: http://nomadicstitches.wordpress.com/ They are very useful for hemming knits, attaching ribbing and elastic, but they are NOT first purchases for most of us who sew. They do only coverstitch and chain stitch; they do not overlock, flatlock, roll hem or trim seams.
Some sergers have coverstitch capabilities. Others do not. Many of us who use coverstitch machines prefer to have separate sergers and coverstitch machines, because changing back and forth from one function to another is often fiddly. And it's often no more expensive to have two machines than one that both serges and coverstitches. Current favorite of the coverstitch machines seems to be a Janome
CoverPro 1000 series.
You can "fake" the look of a coverstitch with a twin needle on a sewing machine, but the coverstitch stitching will stretch (which makes it nice for knits and elastic), while the twin needle sewing machine stitch will break when stretched.
