Ragtime quilt measurments?
i need the measurments for a ragtime quilt lap size using 9 different fabrics, we made one in school last year and i want to make another but i dont remember how many strips to cut of each one and how much fabric you need of each differnt fabric
any help is appricated!
Depends on how big you want the quilt to be.
You need to add 1" for the fraying effect.
Determine the finished measurements and then divide 3, 6 or 9.
Three across that finish at 8" would be 32"; 6 across would be 48" and 9 across would be 72".
Same goes for the length. A finished 8" size block; six across and six down would give you a quilt that measures 48" x 48".
An 8" finished block would need to be cut at 9".
Fabric is usually 45 inches wide (cut away the selvage edges as they will not fray) and you have about 44".
You will get 4 blocks @ 9" across the width of the fabric.
You will need 1/4 yard (9") of each fabric. Nine different fabrics would be four blocks from each fabric; 36 blocks).
Buy 1/3 yard to allow for error as fabric is seldom cut evenly.
