Does anyone know how to set the timing and voltage on a Brother sewing machine?

Does anyone know how do that? The shop wants 125 to 300 hundred dollars to fix it! I only paid 300 for my machine two years ago ... seems ridiculous to pay that much for repair, I might as well buy a new one! 270d is a brother I appreciate any help!

Hello, first you must understand principles of operation of the sewing machine. Like when the needle through the fabric forms a loop under the hook comes around and passing through the loop when the needle is on the upstroke. If your machine is out of time, it is off. You must have the covers to see where the hook and needle meet the upward movement. The tip of the hook must meet with the needle just above the eye. You can see this by removing the needleplate (plate the needle goes through). To make this right gear below the hook should be separated and the hook just above the eye the needle when it came back together and gears. Basically, the cost of this machine embroidery moment is whether the fact that once you have to do what you have to strip the machine and check everything. The height of the needle, feeddog schedule fixing the tension. It takes time and not many people have the knowledge to do so. Thus, they may pay dearly. I guess if your voltages are messed up your machine does not need synchronization. Some Questions should be asked. Is it threaded right? Did something evil happen? The needle is hitting the hook and not go any lower? It This is an electronic machine and bad things can happen when disconnecting Circuitboard etc. There is probably a service test program must be carried through. $ 125 is a proper charge, although a bit high .. Much more than what would be due to repair or replacement. Much more than that, and yes, consider another machine, but no more than cheap.

i have a Brother bm-2600 sewing machine, there are loops on the top of the fabric when I sew please help!!!?

The machine is definately threaded correctly and set to "2" straight stitch...I think it might be the "tension" and need to know how to adjust it somebody please help!
i have now downloaded the manual and tried adjusting the dial on the top and on every setting it makes loops on one side of the fabric or the other or both.

One of the first things they tell you to do is to raise the presser foot when threading.

If you do not do this every time you thread the machine, you will get loopy, nasty stitching.

Why - because when the presser foot is down, the tension control is closed and if the control is closed, thread cannot enter and lays on top instead of feeding though the tension control as it should.

When the presser foot is up, the tension control opens and allows the thread to feed through. The tension setting can then control how much thread should feed though the needle to form the stitching.

Why does my Brother PC420 make a loud knocking sound when stitching?

My Brother pc-420 (Project Runway) machine is only one year old. A few weeks ago, it developed a loud knocking sound while stitching at medium to high speeds. I did the maintenance cleaning recommended in the manual (removing the bobbin and cleaning out the lint). I have followed all manual directions for use as well, so I don't think that the problem is due to misuse. Anyway, I took my machine to a local Bernina sewing center that is licensed to service Brother. They did routine maintenance and checked for the problem I described--and thought they had solved the problem. I tried out the machine at home. Now the noise is worse and even present at low stitching speeds! All the stitches are even, and the thread is not catching or getting tangled, so I don't think the tension is a problem. Any ideas? It sounds like the machine is about to come apart "at the seams"--literally and figuratively!!!!

Call the person who serviced the machine.

Tell them what is happening and ask if they will be in the store to check this as you wait.

Then try it out before you take it home.

Have a Brother embroidery machine... how do I choose and use software to make unique designs to embroider?

My husband bought me a used Brother embroidery machine. I am new to the WHOLE sewing/embroidery thing, and have tons to learn. I wanted to know if there is free software out there that will allow me to design new things to embroider? How do I go about making these things on the software and then getting it to the machine?? I'm totally confused with all this and incredibly overwhelmed! I want to have fun!

There may not be free software to download to create your own designs. Vista is ok to have when purchasing your digitizing software. Brother have some easy to use programs, such as PED Lite and PE Design. But you dont have to buy 'Brother' software.
.art designs are Bernina files, and unfortunately, you cannot use them unless you have bernina branded software. Stick to downloading designs in .pes format. Embroidery is so much fun, and there is always something to do!!! I use husqvarna viking software and i find this really easy, and it does a lot! and i use this with my brother embroidery machine.
Digitizing is the process in which you get your image into 'stitch points', basically telling the needle where to go, and what direction and form the stitch needs to be. Its not easy, but if you love art, and love the computer- you'll love this!
Ask your husband if the shop/place he bought it from offers lessons, or classes on the software and machine. i'm sure they can give you tons of advice! Happy Sewing!!!!!!!

How much does the Brother Innov-is 80 cost?

My local dealer has it on sale for $599, I think that is high. Brother also has a $75 rebate on the machine if purchased from an authorised dealer prior to the end of this month. A little help. I would love to find a dealer to sell this machine on line cheaper but Brother makes them sign a contract and they can only sell local, charge what they want. There are a couple more project runway machines by brother you can check them out at Amazon.com. The other two can be shipped and look nice, too. I know I fell in love with the Innovis 80 for a tote around machine just not sure if I want to pay that much. It is only 14 pounds and you have to purchase quilting 1/4 foot, table and some extras if you want them.
If you go to the brother.com web site, you can print out a pdf file of the manual to look at for the innovis 80. Good luck!
