I want to learn to quilt. Can anyone recommend books for a beginner?

I am very interested in learning the quilt (hand or type). I bought a book on ebay in quilting by hand and it was not for an absolute beginner. I do not understand half of what they were talking. Can anyone help?

My favorite, low cost and easy to find the book that helped me learn the basics of rug is called "The Complete Guide to the seam" published by Reader's Digest. I think there's a new version, and I'm sure it's great - but if you're a girl TyPA garage sale as I am, or even like to stop in used book stores or thrift stores, this book is a cheap and easy to find. I have not tried, but Amazon.com is perhaps even a thought. I chose mine in a sale for $ 1 and still refer to them from time to time. Instructions are very simple, and is perfect for someone who has no idea where to start (like me). popular among the other embroidery, which gives perspective on the base down by hand and machine quilting. If you find that you like to quilt and really want to continue, you will find tons of new books that give great shortcuts and techniques to reduce the time it takes to make your quilt.

Another of my favorite books is The Complete Guide Quilters' "Posted by Fons and Porter. It also has basic instructions for machining by hand and hand quilted ... more trends, and some popular models ranging from basic to advanced quilting ... even covers the different techniques used (you can find for some, is an art of its own!). There are also numerous Internet resources as www.quilterscache.com that give basic instructions offer quilting and tons of free patterns and instruction block. It's Just look at the quilt -. Yahoo! To make a long answer even longer, you can always look in your telephone directory or online for a local quilt shop ... Most small shops (and even places like Jo-RNA More) offer courses rotary cutting, quilting quilting applied and basic hand to name a few -. I have a suggestion you learn when it comes to quilting, not a few hard and fast rules ... much of what others will probably show personal preference ... things like if you use expensive or cheap fabric market, with a cotton or polyester, so the needle marks and his son ... Quilters' can be very oppionionated, and many do not express quam! But as you experiment with different techniques and products, it is possible that you are a gadget collector and need anything having to do with padding ... or may some tissues, scissors, thread, needles and stick are all you need to make a stunning quilt - Oh! one last thing ... when you start to bite, a model is really easy and simple for beginners called "Yellow Brick Road" ... you can find at your local store or quilt Jo-Ann ... is about $ 7 depending on your area ... and made with all neighborhoods of fat! It's pretty fun and easy! Hope this helps and good luck!

quilting question, 2 block quilts, I am new to this, any information can be useful!?

My mom is a member of the quilt of guilt I am a great artist. go together to make a break "away" from home. I have a challenge quilt 2 due 4/29/09. Like much, but I have no experince. Does anyone have any I can simple ideas can work with ... advice, although it would be great! my first thought and inspiration has been my husband's grandmothers quilt destoyed because I thought I was too damaged. hes a biker, was a rebel. No tissue accumulation test .. How I can put together and some models of inspiration to him .. mine must be "original" ... thanks!

A quilt block is one that uses two different blocks to create a secondary motive. A simple example is a block of Snowball and Nine Patch block. Alternating blocks, you get an interesting effect. See first link below for an example. This is one of the easiest two block combinations. The choice of fabrics and embellishments (beads as an artist, you could not make a quilt no frills added, right?), Is original. Check Quilter cache for ideas and instruction block. She has more than one thousand block diagrams, all free, all with clear illustrations and instructions. If familiar with photo editing software, you can copy images, crop, and move on to see what combinations look block. You can also draw on graph paper and using crayons to play with different effects. With respect to the seam and the actual process of quilting, of course, you can help your mom, but also You can get a book from start quilting with Alex Anderson. It teaches the basics of quilting and gives instructions for six blocks in common. If you wish to incorporate some "rebels" in your quilt, you can change a few blocks with traditional angles, deliberately cut points, and what is a little crazy. The advantage is that it does not take an experienced Quilter, you do not have to worry about the points of law, sewing and accurate cutting, and can ask each error as a design element. It is often considered a "peculiar" or blanket. See link for some examples. The following link is a tutorial for a block of twisted log cabin. This is an excellent starting point to learn not only how twisted to make a block, but how to sew a lock period. Along the crooked lines of blocks, you can try to put the pieces of paper. This technique allows it to be much more savage in its reconstruction, with very small pieces, unusual angles, lines and more accurate. Instead of relying on the seams perfect and precise cutting, to sew on the lines printed on a sheet of paper or fabric foundation. There is a bit of a learning curve, but once it clicks in your head, you'll be fine. There are several ways to do this, including the stitching through the paper and then pull through, the seam of a fabric such as gauze, and the "score" the fabric of the foundations of freezer paper with an iron, to withdraw and sew along the edge rather than through the paper. I use the freezer paper method because they can use the base and again. Play with different techniques before you find one you like. There are links below some models.
