how do i machine quilt without it puckering?
i have an inexpensive ($80) brother sewing machine....when i try quilting it puckers up...even if i am only quilting thru two layers of fabric with no batting in between.....is there any way to quilt with this machine?? or do i just need to do it by hand?

Which foot are you using on the machine, and what type of quilting are you doing?
If you're doing free motion quilting, you need to use a quilting/darning foot and have the feed dogs down.
If it's machine guided quilting, you need to use a walking foot, and stitch approximately 12 stitches to the inch, for the best results. That keeps the layers of fabric moving evenly.
