How do I adjust the feed dog height on a Brother LS2125i?
The manual doesn't say anything about it. I haven't sewed with this machine in about a year, I got it out of the closet only to find the feed dog seems to be stuck in a lowered position but I can't figure out how to raise it. It worked perfectly the last time I used it. It seems to be in the lowest position possible. The teeth aren't above the needle plate at all.
It functions normally, just in a lowered position. When the actual feed dog's pushed to the highest position the teeth don't pass the needle plate.
I hope I understand your issue and give you the right answer.
In order for the feed dog to work [move the cloth] it OSCILLATES; first downward, then backward, then upward to engage the cloth [pinch it against the bottom of the presser foot], and then forward to move the cloth. The dog will remain in whatever position/location it was last in when the machine stopped.
The feed dog is driven by a cam and gear in the base of the machine which is driven by a shaft from the motor end.
To check for operation, gently turn the top of the hand "wheel" toward you and watch the feed dog. It should cycle as I have described above. IF not, then it's possible that one of the gears [usually plastic] in the gear train has stripped out and prevents the motion from being transmitted to the feed dog assembly. It's also possible that one or more of the gears is simply out of adjustment which can be easily corrected by a sewing machine repair shop.
This doesn't happen often, but it does occur.
