Which embroidery machine is best?
I am currently being made redundant from work and i have some money to set up a small embroidery business from home. I am looking at several machines and think the brother innovis 1500 is the best machine for me. Can anyone advise if this is the best machine? Can anyone advise where best to purchase from?
Purchase from a sewing machine shop where you can get assistance if and when needed as well as service for the machine.
Brother and Baby Lock are the best, Brother being the leader in this field and Baby Lock the more expensive version of Brother.
Ideally - you want an embroidery area larger than 100mm x 100mm and USB connectivity for easy access to downloads from the Internet. When selecting designs to download you have to be sure the size of the design is within the embroidery area of the machine and that the owner of the designs allow you (the user of the design( to sell items with their design.
If you want to create your own designs - this is more complicated as you need to purchase digitizing software (pricey) and spend time learning how to create designs from a few lines to several thousand stitches.
Once you make your purchase, carefully follow the manual. Use machine embroidery bobbin thread and the top thread should also be for machine embroidery, machine embroidery needles and stabilizer according to the type of fabric being embroidered.
Before downloading designs from the Internet, create a folder on the hard drive and name it Emb Downloads so it can be easily found.
Select the designs you wish to download in the format required by the embroidery machine (pes for Brother and Baby Lock) and make sure the size will fit within the hoop size for the machine.
Downloads are usually zipped/compressed to save download time and you will have to unzip the file before it can be used.
