Brother Embroidery and Sewing Machine with USB Port
sewing machine or Serger?
I'm thinking of buying a machine. i'm a petite person and lots of times I need to shorten my pants. I'm not sure if a regular machine can do same just as serger would do. I'm a little bit confused, however regular sewing machine seems to be more appealing to me. What are your advices? I'm looking at HSN machines now and I have couple picks there:

Sergers are a bit difficult to learn to use and require you to have multiple cones of any thread color you use... I have both but have sewed for 40 years. It sounds like you are new to sewing, by all means, get the sewing machine.
