what size cot blanket shall i make?
Hi My friend is expecting a baby and id love to make them a patchwork quilt or cot blanket.
i am okay at sewing and they have said they like Cath Kidston shabby sheek country style patchwork style.
does anyone know what the standard sizing is and where i could get a template. im also concerned about the fabric i use, i will try to get soft one but i want to make sure its fireproof and meets safety standards. i want them to feel confident about using it.
can anyone help?

hia generally the sizes are 70 x 70 inches or 140 x 140 inches but it wont matter too much if your pattern is not exact. it just depends on how long you are expecting them to use it for. 0-6 months you will only need a small one, 0-12 months fairly large.
as for meeting safety standards and fire proofing, when you buy your fabric just remember to check with the shop on the regulations on that type of fabric, they will be able to help you.
my daughter has a fluffy blanket from primark its very soft and furry, also one from george at asdawhichh is a simple plain white soft baby blanket, both ofthesee were £3.50
