I'm buying fabric online and was wondering what length I would need...?
I'm wanting to make a 50cm by 50cm cushion. The fabric is from ebay (link at bottom) and the person is selling it as 1 fat quarter or you can order it as half a yard, a yard etc. Because they haven't given measurements for them I'm not sure what I will need.

A fat quarter is half a yard x half the fabric width -- same area as a quarter yard of (full width) fabric, different shape. Won't work for this project.
Half a yard is 47.5cm, roughly... 50 cm is 19+ inches, so you need at least 21 inches or 5/8 yards. That does not allow for shrinkage, cutting errors, making piping, or placing motifs as you want them. I'd buy at least 3/4 yard, full width to cover both sides of the pillow.
